Please feel free to stop by the youth cottage anytime. Whether you're a local or it's your first time on the island we'd love to have you! We have so much in store for this summer and don't want you to miss it!      -Devin

I attend the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill where I will be entering my senior year in the fall. I am studying United States history, and education. I plan on getting my Master of Arts degree in teaching with the hope of becoming an elementary school teacher.

I grew up in Wilmington, N.C., and even though my family moved to Charlotte, N.C., following my senior year of high school, I still consider Wilmington and the beach to be my “home”. I have participated in sports my whole life and I enjoy anything that keeps me active. During the summer, I love going out on the boat and waterskiing or wakeboarding, but I also enjoy being able to lay out on the beach and read or play land sports.

In my time at UNC, I have learned what it means to be a disciple of Christ and how I can use what I have learned to go and make disciples on campus and in the world. I can’t wait to work as the Youth Minister at Emma Anderson and have the opportunity to share the life-changing news of what Christ has done for us. I am looking forward to sharing my faith with the youth this summer and not only be able to help them grow in their faith, but seeing the ways in which they help me grow in my faith and in my relationship with Christ.

My favorite bible verse is from Psalms 19:1“The Heavens declare the glory of God, but the skies above proclaim his handiwork.”

I am a rising sophomore at Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn. You may have heard of the university this spring when it qualified for the NCAA basketball tournament, aka March Madness, for the first time ever. We put up a good fight but lost to UNC-Chapel Hill (Devin’s school) in the first round. Go Bisons! I am majoring in bioscience and philosophy, and hope to attend medical school.

Coming from the small town of Clinton, N.C., I’ve spent most of my summers in Topsail and they have been an absolute blast. Some of my best memories have come from spending time with the Emma Anderson youth group. I love hanging out with friends, listening to my favorite recording artists, playing sports with friends, exploring the island or relaxing on a sandbar with a good book.

Moving all the way to Nashville has been an incredible experience for me and my journey with Christ. I have met amazing people who encourage me daily to live more and more like Jesus did. I am beyond blessed to be EAMC’s Youth Assistant this summer, and I am excited to meet new people and reunite with old friends while growing in Christ together. The best relationships are built on a Godly foundation, and I am excited to build those relationships with all of you!

My favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:28 —

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
