Third Operation Christmas Child Mission Trip
December 5, 6, and 7, 2011, we had a large number of Emma Anderson Memorial Chapel affiliates travel to Charlotte for what has become a tradition for many of us. The opportunity to work in the Samaritan's Purse Warehouse on the shoeboxes that are sent around the world brought us much joy and laughter. Those who went this year were Ginny Barnett, Bettye Benton, Jane Barnes, Marie Bone, Tommy and Jeannie Daniels, Sandra Davis, Mary Eberhardt, Norfleet Herring, Debbie Hill, Dick Holder, Gerry Horner, Frances Keir, Jim and Freddie King, Merle Morris, Michele Murphy, Mary Riggleman, Jamin and Pam Simmons, Brenda Teachey, Rebecca Womble, and Beverly Woodruff. We worked three four hour shifts and had a lot of time to visit with each other. We toured the Billy Graham Library, ate out at some great places, and shopped at Ikea. Decide now you want to come next time! We crowned Dick Holder the oldest young person to go on a mission trip with the chapel. He is 88, taped those boxes the whole time, and thoroughly enjoyed himself.

At Home Mission Trip
Armed with buckets and fortified with biscuits, lots of folks showed up to do some deep cleaning at the youth cottage, the fellowship House and the chapel Saturday morning, May 14. A few of them are pictured. Those who participated that day were Judy and Kenan Brock, Larry Combs, Michelle and Wayne Reynolds, Jane Autry, Merle Morris, Susan and Louis Peele, Bettye and Rick Benton, Frances Keir, Garth and Lynette Boyd, Gerry Horner, Ken Lineberger, Grayson ReVille, Bill Howington, Donna Pendergrast, John and Janie Hauser, Dee MacMillan, Frank and Julia Sherron, Russ Eichman, and Sandra Davis. On the following Tuesday, Lynette and Frances returned to the parsonage to do it all again. Beth Holder, Vicky Faris, Eddie Hatch, Tom Eggleston, and Cecile Broadhurst joined in the cleaning party. New blinds were placed in the youth cottage and the parsonage. Things are looking good thanks to all of the wonderful help!
